What is the KonMari Method®?
Have you tried tidying up in the past but felt as though it never really got you anywhere? I understand how frustrating it is when you spend a long time and effort and it feels as though the mess just comes straight back.
I know this was certainly the case for me before I completed my KonMari tidying journey.
Most tidying methods advocate a room-by-room or little-by-little approach, which doom you to pick away at your piles of stuff seemingly forever.
The KonMari Method® encourages tidying by category – not by location – beginning with clothes, then moving on to books, papers, komono (miscellaneous items), and, finally, sentimental items.
The method focuses on guiding you to focus on the things that you love and discard items that no longer spark joy by letting them go with gratitude.
People around the world have been drawn to this philosophy not only due to its effectiveness, but also because it places great importance on being mindful, introspective and forward-looking.
Each session focuses on one (or more depending on how fast you work) categories in the following order:
The purpose of going through these categories in this particular order is to start with the easiest and finish with the hardest category. If you follow the steps that I will guide you through as a consultant, you will have the tools and knowledge to choose the things in your life that bring you the most joy and the confidence to be able to discard the rest with gratitude. Once you've honed these skills, you will have them for life and should not need to repeat the tidying festival again.
